Who Do You Want To Be?

.......

Who do you want to be? It’s a question that holds more weight than we realize. It’s not just about careers or accomplishments—it’s about how we show up in the world, the energy we bring, and the love we share. For me, it’s always been about the energy I radiate and the people I surround myself with. I’m a person of energy, and my whole life has been shaped by the love and connections I’ve shared with others.

One of the people who inspired me to write this post is my roommate, Addie. She recently reminded me of the impact I have on others, especially when it comes to love and energy. She told me how the things I’ve done for the international students who came to America—how I tried to make their experience the best it could be—have left a lasting impression. Her words inspired this blog because they made me realize just how powerful love and energy can be.

Energy and Connection

Energy is contagious, and it thrives in the presence of others. The people around us shape who we are, just as we shape them. When I studied abroad in Europe, I was surrounded by people who exuded kindness, respect, and love. They made me feel at home in a foreign place, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

The same energy I received abroad is what I try to give to others here. Whether it’s showing kindness, going the extra mile to make someone feel at ease, or simply being present, these small actions can create incredible memories and connections.

Seeking Validation and Giving Reassurance

Validation and reassurance are things we all need, even if we don’t admit it. I’m someone who craves reassurance—it’s what makes me feel secure in my relationships. If you’re someone who notices a friend pulling away, take a moment to ask why. You never know how much someone might need to hear, “You matter to me.” Be that comfort for them, even when it feels difficult.

The Gift of Small Gestures

It’s the little things that count. Whether it’s a random pack of German candy, a pair of hand-knit socks, or a simple compliment like “You’re beautiful, my darling,” these small moments hold so much meaning. They remind people they’re cared for in ways that words sometimes can’t express.

Even our families notice these gestures. When I studied abroad, I saw how love extended beyond just friendships—it brought families together too. Parents found comfort in knowing their children were cared for by people they had never met. It’s in these moments that love transcends borders and creates a sense of belonging that lasts a lifetime.

Love, Always

To my international friends—those who became my family in Europe and those who’ve come here to America—I want to say thank you. You’ve brought out the best in me, and I hope I’ve done the same for you. The love and energy we shared will forever be cherished in my heart; I will constantly always be reminded of your guys' impact on my life through the little things and big ones too.

So, lastly, I want to ask you, who do you want to be? Just an idea: if you want to be reminded, be the person who loves deeply and gives selflessly. Be someone who makes others feel seen, whether it’s through a long hug, a kind word, or simply being present. Let’s create a world filled with more of that love and energy. Because the world is vast, full of stories waiting to be written. Let passion and grace guide yours.
